Brunei youth highlight cultural exchange, unity as they return from SSEAYP

A Brunei Darussalam contingent of 15 youth and a national leader returned from the 48th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) in Tokyo, Japan.

The contingent, led by Youth and Sports officer Syed Abdul Muiz bin Haji Syed Anayatullah Shah as well as Chief of Youth Mohammad Azid bin Haji Mohamed Sambas and Assistant Chief of Youth Farah Naqibah binti Haji Abdul Rahim.

The 38 day programme, involved sailing aboard the Nippon Maru ship to various destinations, including Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Jakarta in Indonesia. Syed Abdul Muiz shared his experience, highlighting the cultural exchange and unity among participants from different countries. He mentioned the success of Brunei’s national performance, which showcased traditional dances and garnered interest from other participants.

The programme offered a diverse range of activities, including discussions, cultural exchanges, volunteer work, courtesy visits, study visits, and interactions with local youth. A unique highlight was the homestay programme, where participants experienced the local lifestyle and culture of the host countries.

It is anticipated that the participants will apply their gained knowledge, skills, and experiences to inspire other youth and promote the Sultanate as a positive force in the region.
