Brunei Darussalam’s wushu team collected seven golds and one silver medal to end their campaign at the 1st China-ASEAN Wushu Championship at Nantong University’s gymnasium in China.
On the final day of competition, Brunei wushu athletes Samuel Ong Yong Jun added a gold medal to the tally by finishing first in the men’s Taijijian event, Lim Mae Qi won gold in the women’s Nanquan and Hannah Tan Zi Lin won gold in the female children’s division Jianshu.
Meanwhile, Wan Xin Lim bagged a silver medal in the women’s Nanquan event. Coach Li Hui said, “Our young athletes have shown their skills in the competition and I am proud of their achievement.
“We will continue to develop and build our young wuhsu athletes to bring more glory to the Sultanate.”
The competition was co-hosted by the China-ASEAN Wushu Federation, the General Administration of Sport of China’s Wushu Sports Management Centre and the Chinese Wushu Association with the Nantong municipal people’s government as the organiser. – James Kon
