The Brunei Syariah Courts participated in the 2024 Muzakarah of Syariah High Court Judges across Malaysia on Wednesday. The event, hosted by the Division of Registration, Secretariat and Records (BPKR) under the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM), aimed to foster cooperation and knowledge sharing among Syariah judicial bodies in both countries.
Syariah High Court Judge Haji Muhammad Bahrin bin Haji Alias represented Brunei at the Muzakarah, held at Hotel Tenera in Bangi, Selangor. The event brought together Syariah High Court Judges from across Malaysia, providing a platform for discussions on contemporary Syariah law issues and judicial practices.
To further strengthen bilateral relations, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Brunei Syariah Courts and the JKSM.
Additionally, Justice Haji Muhammad Bahrin engaged in bilateral discussions with the Syariah High Court Judge of Kuala Lumpur. These discussions focused on sharing best practices, exploring potential collaborations and strengthening the existing ties between the two jurisdictions. – Fadley Faisal
