Brunei joins OPEC meet in Vienna

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the 35th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting (35th ONOMM) held yesterday at the OPEC Secretariat, Vienna, Austria.

The OPEC and non-OPEC participating countries supported the recommendations proposed at the 49th Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (49th JMMC) Meeting, held prior to the 35th ONOMM, and the overall crude oil production adjustment, starting January 1 until December 31, 2024.

A declaration of cooperation (DoC) between OPEC and non-OPEC oil producing countries was incepted on December 10, 2016 in recognising the need for joint cooperation to achieve a lasting stability in the oil market in the interest of oil producers and consumers.

In its current setting, the ministerial meeting will be held every six months, and the next meeting, 36th ONOMM is scheduled to be held on November 26 in Vienna, Austria.

The meeting was chaired by Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman Al-Saud and co-chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Valentinovich Novak, in the presence of Equatorial Guinea Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima as OPEC president.

Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi also met His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman Al-Saud and other heads of delegations from the OPEC and non-OPEC participating countries prior to the meeting.
