Sia Kao Xiang with the rank of 3-dan and team leader Chin Sin Voon from Brunei Darussalam Go Association participated in the Nanyang Cup World Amateur Invitational Weiqi Tournament 2025 in Singapore recently.
With two wins out of five games, Sia Kao Xiang finished at 25th position. Go players from 32 countries competed in the tournament
The highlights of the event saw world number one Shin Jin Seo of South Korea win against China’s Wang Xinghao.
Chin Sin Voon as vice president of the Brunei Darussalam Go Association attended the China-ASEAN meeting that was held with all 10 leaders of the Go Associations from ASEAN member countries.
The discussion focused on the development of Go across Southeast Asia and beyond. The Chinese Weiqi Association proposed making Singapore a strategic hub to serve as the core for spreading Go culture throughout the region.
“The meeting also emphasised the importance of training internationally recognised judges. Additionally, China announced that the professional Go test will be open worldwide this year,” Chin said. – James Kon
