The government has deployed advanced technology, including drones and AI, to strengthen border security and ensure national sovereignty, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof revealed during the ongoing 21st Legislative (LegCo) Council meeting on Monday.
Addressing queries from appointed members, the minister highlighted that security agencies continue to play a crucial role in monitoring activities along the borders in compliance with national laws. “We have utilised drones and AI to enhance surveillance and enforcement measures, ensuring that national security remains a top priority,” he stated.
However, he noted that details of operational strategies could not be disclosed publicly due to security considerations. “For operational and technical discussions, we are open to further engagement at the appropriate level,” he added.
