Close military ties between Brunei and China were lauded by the Chinese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam’s Defence Attaché Senior Colonel Dai Qilin on Monday.
“China and Brunei are close neighbours across the sea, trustworthy friends and partners of common development. The two sides have set an example of a large and small country living together in harmony for mutual benefit,” said the defence attaché in his speech during the celebration of the 96th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Monday at Tarindak D’Seni in the capital.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.
Ambassador-designate of China to Brunei Darussalam Xiao Jianguo and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Commander Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan also attended.
Senior Colonel Dai Qilin said, “The Chinese PLA and the RBAF have always maintained friendly ties and have made great strides in bilateral relations.
“The two sides have cooperated in the high-level visits, security dialogue, joint exercises and training and other areas.” – James Kon
