The Ministry of Finance and Economy’s Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) issued a BND500 fine to a company in Belait District for selling formulated milk powder above the maximum price under Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act.
The department also issued 10 warnings to businesses in January and February for selling cooking oil and powdered milk above price ceiling; inconsistency between displayed prices and point of sale system; and unauthorised sales activities.
Businesses are reminded to comply with Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act including seasonal maximum price for selected food items during Ramadhan to the first week of Syawal. Non-compliance will result in enforcement actions. The list of maximum prices can be found in PenggunaBijak app and JPES website www.deps.mofe.gov.bn.
