Blackpink’s Jennie set for solo comeback in October

(ANN/KOREA HERALD) – Jennie, a member K-pop group Blackpink, is set to make her highly anticipated solo comeback, her agency OA Entertainment announced on Monday.

The star has signed with Columbia Records, a leading American label under Sony Music Entertainment, which represents major artists like Beyoncé, Adele, and Harry Styles.

Jennie is expected to release her new single in October, marking her first solo project since her special single, “You & Me,” dropped last October.

In addition to her solo work, Jennie collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the track “One of the Girls,” also released last October. The song has since surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify and held a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 20 consecutive weeks. This achievement made Jennie the first female Korean solo artist to receive platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

In April, Jennie reached another major milestone when the music video for her debut solo single, “Solo,” surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube, solidifying her status as the first female K-pop solo artist to hit this landmark.
