Better support for local MSMEs

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), through Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Bank Usahawan Brunei, organised an event at the Design and Technology building recently.

This is the first of a series of collaborative sessions aimed at fostering the growth and development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Sultanate.

According to a press statement, the organisations have embarked on a strategic partnership to better serve the needs of MSMEs.

Bank Usahawan specialises in providing funding solutions for MSMEs while DARe focuses on facilitating the growth and development of these enterprises.

BEDB and DARe Acting Chief Executive Officer Daniel Leong said the partnership exemplifies the organisations’ commitment to providing holistic support to the local MSME community. “By combining the strengths of Bank Usahawan and DARe, we aim to create a conducive environment for MSMEs to thrive and contribute to the economic development of Brunei,” said Leong.

The event, with participation from 17 local businesses, began with Bank Usahawan delivering an overview of its range of financial products and services to assist MSMEs.

It continued with an open consultation where attendees discussed their businesses to determine their eligibility for financing. As part of the collaborative effort, Bank Usahawan will refer funding recipients to DARe programmes to ensure MSMEs not only have access to financial support but also benefit from developmental initiatives.
