Scout members and groups from across the Belait District on Monday night showcased their talents with vibrant performances and plays during the nightly stage events at the Gerai Perayaan (festive stalls) in celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday.
Organised by the Belait District Scouts Association, the event drew a large crowd and was attended by Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad.
The evening began with the national anthem and a recital of the Scout’s Oath by participating scouts. The stage was then set for a variety of engaging performances, including songs, dances, and a stage play titled “Learning by Doing.” This play featured young scouts enacting a camping trip scenario where teamwork and problem-solving were key to overcoming challenges and returning home safely.
Visitors to the festive stalls are invited to enjoy more nightly performances and talks, which will continue at 8.30 pm until July 31. – DANIEL LIM
