Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) was one of the main sponsors of International School Brunei’s (ISB) 60th anniversary celebrations.
The bank’s involvement reflects its commitment to supporting the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.
The bank’s support to ISB extends further to the activities around their 60th anniversary celebration which includes planting trees, ISB series of ISB CAREs programmes, the 20th ISB Borneo Global Issues Conference (BGIC) 2024 and the upcoming ISB Walkathon.
The 20th ISB BGIC 2024 held from October 25 to 27 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas was a culmination of keynote sessions, committee debates, and the general assembly.
Students were encouraged to critically examine and propose practical solutions for today’s global challenges, including climate change, economic inequality, and sustainable consumption.
The conference brought together young leaders from 21 schools across Brunei and internationally, providing a platform for students to address pressing global issues aligned with the UN SDGs.
The bank’s sponsorship is an extension of its commitment to education and youth empowerment, and environmental protection under its sustainability framework, which prioritises environmental protection, responsible entrepreneurship and inclusive social impact.
The bank’s flagship ALAF (Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future) programme exemplifies this commitment by offering financial and educational support to underprivileged students, playing a key role in fostering a skilled and resilient workforce for Brunei’s future.
The bank’s support of the ISB BGIC aligns with its broader commitment to sustainability.
The bank was the first private sector organisation in Brunei to partner with the government on net zero commitments through the Brunei National Council on Climate Change.
