Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School held the Hayya Ilal ‘Arabiyyah (Let’s Speak Arabic) programme on Saturday, aimed at fostering interest and enhancing Arabic speaking skills among students.
Themed Maqasid Syariah, the programme also sought to raise awareness on the importance of Maqasid Syariah in learning, careers, and daily life within the school community.
To achieve these objectives, the school organised two competitions: an Individual Infographic Design Contest and a Class Video Production Contest, both open to its students. Acting Director of Islamic Studies at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajah Mariana binti Haji Jamil was the guest of honour.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a prayer, followed by a speech by the school principal Hajah Azizah binti Haji Mohamad. Attendees were treated to performances and screenings of winning videos, followed by a prize presentation ceremony and a visit to exhibition booths.
The Hayya Ilal ‘Arabiyyah programme is part of an initiative by the Islamic Studies Department to strengthen Arabic proficiency and encourages healthy competition among students in Arabic schools. – Fadley Faisal
