Learning Arabic through its language, history and literature is essential for Islamic development, said Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language Dr Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Abdullah as the chairperson of the festival at the finals of the Regional Arabic Speech Competition on Saturday.
Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Buraithin was the guest of honour.
The event coincided with the 2024 Arabic Festival Prize Presentation in celebration of World Arabic Language Day in Brunei.
The competition, hosted physically by UNISSA for the first time, featured four participants from local and international institutions.
The event included a performance by the competition winners, followed by the guest of honour presenting prizes and certificates.
UNISSA Rector Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was also present. – Lyna Mohamad
