Another feather in Glamco Aviation’s cap

Glamco Aviation (B) Sdn Bhd has been recognised for exceptional ground handling services, winning the Outstanding Supplier of the Year, Asia Pacific award at the UAS Outstanding Suppliers Awards 2020-2021 ceremony held earlier this week in Geneva, Switzerland.

Managing Director of Glamco Shran J Singh received the award. UAS Executive President Mohammed Husary and UAS CEO Omar Hosari also attended.

UAS International Trip Support delivers customised flight support solutions to a global market for trip support, executive travel and air charter. Their clients include heads of state, Fortune Global 500 companies and business jet operators worldwide.

Launched in 2015, the UAS Outstanding Suppliers Awards recognise UAS’ top-performing industry partners on every continent that it serves. The selection process includes evaluation by all stakeholders, including client feedback reports, internal assessment of quality and service levels.

Glamco is a private wholly Brunei-owned company and is the only private fixed-base operator in the country, delivering 24/7 support for wide-bodied, narrow-bodied, corporate and light aircraft, helicopters, medevac and cargo aircraft. In addition to a number of other services, it also provides charter services for both passengers and cargo.

In his acceptance speech, Singh thanked the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, Department of Civil Aviation, Royal Brunei Airlines, Royal Brunei Culinary and Brunei Shell for the support and services provided to ensure the safety and comfort of Glamco’s clients. Singh also paid tribute to the dedication and commitment by their frontline management and operational staff, 99 per cent of whom are Bruneian. Despite the slowdown in air travel caused by the pandemic, Glamco was able to sustain itself without any retrenchment and have, in fact, increased staff number.

He said, “As a 100-per-cent Bruneian owned company, we take pride in reinventing our processes regularly to ensure that we can operate in a safe environment in handling flights, each of which presents a different challenge.”

He added that he would like to see more flight planners using Brunei as their preferred business, holiday or technical transit stop as the country is ideally situated between the Indian and Pacific Ocean regions – ideal for flight stops between Central Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
