QAF Auto Sdn Bhd and BMW Motorrad Brunei officially introduced the New BMW R 1300 GS (Option 719) motorcycle at the three-day roadshow at The Mall, Gadong yesterday.
QAF Auto General Manager Alisa Khoo, BMW Motorrad Manager Shan Tong and Baiduri Finance Berhad Used and Secondary Vehicle Services Manager Muhtar Ahmad officiated the launch.
More than 43 years ago, BMW Motorrad established a new segment for touring enduros with the R 80 G/S. The boxer BMW GS has been the undisputed leader of the competitive field ever since.
BMW Motorrad opted for an almost completely new design for the new R 1300 GS with a weight saving of 26 pounds compared to the previous model to ensure this remains the case in the future.
“Adventure motorcycling has always been about pushing the boundaries, whether traversing terrains, taking on long highway stretches or weaving through the city. For over 40 years, BMW Motorrad has been at the forefront of setting and raising the bar in this segment,” Tong said.
“With the release of the BMW R 1300 GS, it’s evident that the legacy continues, combining rich tradition with groundbreaking innovation. Hailing from the production lines of the BMW Group Plant in Berlin, a facility steeped in tradition and modernity, the new R 1300 GS is not just a motorcycle – it’s a statement – a testimony to BMW’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and the spirit of adventure,” Tong said.
The new BMW R 1300 GS comes in four model variants: pure GS, Triple Black, GS Trophy and the Option 719 Taramuntana.
The new R 1300 GS Option 719 Taramuntana – combines cross-spoke wheels in gold with black components in its frames, powertrain and the luggage carrier with grab handle.
The gold anodised handlebar provides the accentuation to match the gold-coloured lining on the body components and the gold rims. It lives up to its aspiration to offer elegantly packaged technology in particular by means of a high-quality paint finish.
The side trim sections and the front wheel cover at the top are finished in Aurelius Green Metallic, while the aluminium tank and intake silencer cover are finished in Aurelius Green Metallic but with a matte clear coating. The fuel tank centre cover in Luxor Black/Grey and the cylinder head covers in Avus Black Metallic Matte blend in harmoniously.
“For enthusiasts and seasoned riders, the allure of the R 1300 GS is not just its impressive lineage but its intricate details, technical prowess and the sheer engineering marvel it embodies,” added the manager. – Adib Noor
