Almerez HiTune FC seized top spot in the Brunei Elite Futsal League (BEFL) after emerging victorious in a thrilling 9-5 victory over DDT FT at the multi-purpose hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday.
The dramatic victory witnessed Haji Mohd Azim’s men, who trailed by two goals, rose to the occasion after finding the open space to breach DDT FT’s goal.
An imported player from Iran, Abolfazl Minouei Hussein recorded a glorious night when he scored six goals while Iqbal Pasaribu, Awangku Md Wazien and Harith Hidawi each scored one.
DDT FT, who are looking to secure their first victory, surprised Almerez HiTune as Awangku Mohd Azreen Eskandar opened the scoring in the first minute.
Then, the pacy player from the Temburong District returned to rattle Almerez’s goal in the ninth minute to make it 2-0.
Almerez got on the board as Abolfazl struck in the 15th minute but the sensational Awangku Mohd Azreen Eskandar completed his hat-trick moments later.
Muhd Nur Syazwan and Roland John Gary also scored for DDT but Almerez turned up the heat inspired by Abolfazl’s goal-scoring prowess.
Almerez HiTune FC head coach Haji Mohd Azim bin Haji Zakaria said, “I am happy with the players’ ability for making a comeback after being left behind by two goals.”
