AKSE Bersatu clinched a fine victory in a five-goal thriller after edging Wijaya FC 3-2 in the Brunei Super League 2024/2025 at the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.
The Kampong Setia-based outfit raced to a lead in the third minute after Md Syam Sulaimi Jamahat drilled his shot home after connecting a cross from his teammate. However, Wijaya duly got back into level terms as Ahmadi Fahmi bin Haji Yahaya’s shot landed onto the back of the net without needing a touch from an on rushing player.
The team in blue enjoyed a fair share of the possession but AKSE Bersatu still looked a threat with their direct attacking approach. AKSE Bersatu were within inches of retaking the lead as defender Mohammad Kasyfil Anuar Zamain hit the post from close range.
Md Syam Sulaimi completed his brace in the 48th minute before fellow attacker Muhd Sahfiq Hidayat Al-Azim helped add a two-goal cushion in the 64th minute.
Wijaya ensured that all was not lost despite being handicapped in personnel with Muhd Azhar bin Haji Saifulbahri finding the net four minutes later.
However, AKSE Bersatu held on for their third win of the season. – Fadhil Yunus
