Active weather conditions are expected until Monday morning (October 30), according to the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) in a press release on Wednesday.
The department said occasional heavy thundershowers are forecasted to affect several areas of the country, especially in the late afternoon and at night, and may persist until early morning. Wind gusts may reach up to 45 km/h during or near heavy thundershowers, it warned.
This is due to the combination of a low-pressure system over the region and the local wind effect that leads to more moist atmospheric conditions, thus enhancing the development of rain clouds, the department further explained.
The BDMD said that Brunei is currently in the transition period which is expected to last until the end of November 2023. During this period, local wind effects plays an important role in governing the country’s daily weather.
