His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday afternoon received in audience Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari bin Abdul at Istana Nurul Iman.
During the audience ceremony, His Majesty congratulated Malaysia’s leadership in its Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025 as well as Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari assuming Presidency of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) this year. His Majesty and Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari also discussed on bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, including cooperation between the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam and the Parliament of Malaysia, as well as regional and international issues.
Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari and delegation are in the country on a three-day working visit, as part of a series of visits to ASEAN Parliaments to discuss the Parliament of Malaysia’s preparations to chair the AIPA in this September.
The visit also aims to explore ways to strengthen collaboration between legislative institutions in ASEAN, including Brunei Darussalam.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office also received Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari in a separate audience ceremony at Qashr Al-Meezaan yesterday.
