Excellence recognised
Seri Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) held a graduation 2024 ceremony for its 150 Kindergarten 3, 160 primary and 149 secondary students at the Songket Hall of The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong recently.
The event began with the recitation of prayers followed by the graduation march accompanied by a live Sarjana Marching Band represented by students from the preschool, primary and secondary sections.
Certificates and medals were also awarded to the best students in academics where among the prestigious awards were the gold award for academic excellence, Top 3 in the level, Top in Subjects, and Mandarin Language (for beginners and advanced levels).
General Manager of Insurance Islam TAIB Haji Zamrin bin Haji Abdul Ghani, the invited guest, delivered the special incentive awards for the highest performing student in each level and the Student of The Year Award (Primary/ Secondary). The event also saw traditional and modern dance numbers, and song numbers as well as the singing of the Alma Mater song. – Lyna Mohamad
Academic milestone celebrated
Some 75 preschool students at the Royal Brunei Police Force Kindergarten School celebrated an academic milestone with an academic excellence awards and graduation ceremony at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, Police Headquarters, Gadong on November 27.
Some 25 students were presented with certificates and awards for their excellent academic performance, while 50 KG2 students received their graduation certificates.
The event also saw performances led by the KG1 and KG2 students.
Welfare Body of Police’s Wives and Families (PEKERTI) Chairman Datin Sabrina Aziemah binti Abdullah Chong, the guest of honour, was accompanied by the Chair of the PEKERTI Sport Executive Body Nur Akmalia binti Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Iskandar. – Daniel Lim

‘Cooperation key to success’
Raja Isteri Fatimah (RIF) School headmistress Josephine Tan Yen Nee shared that all students have passed the student development evaluation (SPA) with the exception for special needs students whose evaluation are done through motor skills.
She said this during the school’s graduation ceremony as well as the awarding of high flyers of Year 1 to Year 6 at Raja Isteri Girls High School’s (STPRI) school hall on Thursday.
She also noted that to achieve success and excellence, there must be agreement and cooperation between various parties – teachers, parents and students, as it is this strong cooperation between all parties that produces excellent students while at school level.
In the PSR examinations, the school recorded 74.07 per cent passes with two of its students obtaining five ‘A’ and four students obtaining four ‘A’ and one ‘B’.
The graduation ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Kesyukuran followed with the marching in of the graduates.
The school’s headmistress presented certificates to the students.

‘Celebration of determination and students spirit’
Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School (SMALHB) Principal Hajah Azizah binti Haji Mohammad congratulated students for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication during an award presentation ceremony on Thursday.
“Today’s ceremony is not just a recognition of academic excellence but a celebration of the determination and spirit of the students. Their success is a testament to their commitment to learning and the strong support of our dedicated teaching staff,” said Hajah Azizah.
The ceremony was to recognise and celebrate the achievements of its top-performing students in the Brunei Religious Education Pre Higher Certificate (Pre-STPUB) and ‘AS’ Level qualifying examinations. Some nine students were celebrated for achieving five distinctions in the Pre-STPUB qualifying examination.
Meanwhile, eight students were recognised for their performance in the ‘AS’ Level qualifying examination. The ceremony also acknowledged the contributions of the teachers who have played a crucial role in the success of the students. Several educators were presented with the excellence in teaching award.

School’s best values stressed
Katok Secondary School (SMK) Principal Penroose Saleha binti Haji Mohd Salleh touched on the importance of SMK’s BEST values during a ceremony to celebrate its BEST 10th anniversary at the school’s multi-purpose hall on Wednesday.
“B for Boundless Learners – individuals who are eager to learn, explore, and continuously grow, E for Excellence Performers – striving for the highest standards in every aspect of life, S for Strong Characters – individuals who demonstrate integrity, resilience, and responsibility and T for Talented Individuals – recognising and nurturing the unique strengths in each of us,” said the principal.
The values are ideals they aim to achieve and live everyday by the students, teachers, and staff. It is through these values that they have been able to create a school community that is united, vibrant, and committed to learning and growing together.
The event also saw the presentation of medals to the students as well as several cultural performances, dikir, tausyeh, dakwah and nasyid songs. The event began with a welcoming speech by SMK principal, who extended gratitude to the first SMK Principal Lim Chee Kong, the guest of honour, for his leadership and commitment that laid the foundation for SMK and set the school on the path they follow today.
“His foresight and dedication created a school where excellence and holistic development would thrive, and we are forever grateful for the legacy he established,” said the principal.
The event proceeded with the launch of the ‘One Decade of SMK BEST Journey’ by the guest of honour.
The ceremony also featured the introduction and announcement of the Beautification Project Year 7 2024 and exhibition.
The guest of honour toured the exhibition and was introduced to a Teqball game by the new co-curricular activities (CCA) club for next year.
He also witnessed a parade showcase by the school’s RBAF Cadet and then presented ranks to members of the school’s RBPF cadet. The finale was the showcase of talents of CCA clubs. – Lyna Mohamad
‘Parents, teachers play key role in students progress’
Fairview School Headmistress Nur Azrina binti Ramlee stressed on the students’ success in the Primary School Assessment (PSR) examination during the school’s end-of-year ceremony at the multi-purpose hall of the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) headquarters in Berakas on November 24.
She also spoke about the importance of parental involvement in student learning and the persistence of teachers in ensuring that teaching and learning was carried out well.
The ceremony also saw the graduation of Kindergarten 3 and Year 6 students. The ceremony was enlivened by performances from Kindergarten 1 to Year 6 students including dancing, singing, poetry recitations and self-introductions from Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 3 students.
It proceeded with the presentation of prizes and certificates to the best students and the graduating students of Kindergarten 3 to Year 6.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo session with parents and students.
Fairview School Managing Director Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Ahmad bin Dato Paduka Matnor, the guest of honour, presented gifts and certificates to the students.
