Brunei Darussalam is set to host its first ever Petroleum Technology Exhibition and Conference (PTEC 2025) from February 10 to 13 in the Sultanate, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s energy sector.
The event, themed ‘Innovation for Efficiency and Sustainability in the Hydrocarbon Industry’, organised by the Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam (PABD), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Brunei Chapter, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), aims to foster and strengthen collaboration and innovation in the hydrocarbon industry in recognition of Brunei’s commitment to leverage cutting-edge technology to drive efficiency, sustainability and long-term growth in the industry.
According to Co-Vice Chairman of PTEC 2025 and Head of Opportunity and Strategies at the PABD Adimas bin Haji Mohammad Salleh, PTEC 2025 represents “a pivotal step towards unlocking the potential of Brunei’s energy sector while ensuring its alignment with environmental stewardship”.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Digital technologies are at the heart of PTEC 2025’s agenda, with a strong focus on automation, intelligent analytics, and artificial intelligence. It has long been recognised that innovations are essential for improving efficiency, agility and sustainability in the hydrocarbon sector.
“From automated systems that streamline operations to data-driven insights that enhance decision-making, digital technologies are the driving force behind the next era of the hydrocarbon industry,” Adimas said.
DRIVING INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
At the core of PTEC 2025 is the goal to explore and celebrate transformative innovations in the hydrocarbon industry. PTEC 2025 represents the gathering of leaders, regulators, academics and innovators in the hydrocarbon industry from across the globe and provides a platform for the sharing of real-world strategies, insights, knowledge and best practices in reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency and optimising hydrocarbon production whilst maintaining its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Through a dynamic line-up of keynote speakers and a series of high-value panel discussions, sessions such as the chief executive officer Panel on ‘Innovating the Future: Transforming Oil & Gas Operations with Technology’ and the Industrial Leaders Panel on ‘Balancing Profit and Planet: Driving Sustainability and Business Optimisation’ will provide valuable perspectives on the industry’s evolving landscape. Dedicated sessions on HSE in Sustainable Operations and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Practices in the Hydrocarbon Sector during the conference is also demonstrative of the support for Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to maximise its hydrocarbon resources without compromising environmental commitments through the integration of innovative technologies and energy efficiency measures.
The event not only promises multifaceted and high impact discussions on a myriad of critical issues and challenges currently faced by the hyrdrocarbon industry worldwide, but PTEC 2025 also offers unparalleled networking opportunities, and opportunities to foster new partnerships and create collaborative solutions that will elevate Brunei’s role in shaping the future of the hydrocarbon industry.
Exhibitions by companies offering a wide range of innovative and technological products to drive efficiency and sustainability in the hydrocarbon industry will also feature during the event. “Whether it’s enhancing production or minimising environmental impacts, the event will showcase how digital tools are unlocking new potential for growth and sustainability,” Adimas stated.
SHAPING THE FUTURE WORKFORCE
PTEC 2025 will also feature workshops and interactive sessions focused on training and upskilling professionals in emerging technologies in the industry. “From hands-on training in automation to insights on sustainability practices, PTEC 2025 will provide invaluable learning opportunities for both new entrants and seasoned professionals,” Adimas explained. Ultimately, PTEC 2025 aims to be more than just a conference – it serves as a strategic platform for advancing efficiency, innovation and sustainability in Brunei’s hydrocarbon sector.
With the series of panel discussions, presentations, exhibitions and Hackathon sessions that will be organised throughout the four-day event, PTEC 2025 promises to be the first of its kind, paving the way for Brunei’s role in shaping the hydrocarbon industry. “This isn’t just about technology – it’s about revolutionising how we operate,” Adimas explained.
