A night of youthful brilliance

Malam Minggu Pusat Belia (MMPB) 2024, themed ‘Sung Dai Li Tutong’, brought an inspiring and energetic night to life, drawing visitors to the royal dias area and Walkway Padang of the Community Hall Complex in Tutong District on Saturday night.

The event, organised by youth volunteers MMPB team along with the Tutong District Office and Youth and Sport Department’s Tutong District branch, was a platform for local youth to showcase creative potential in arts, sports, entertainment, and entrepreneurship.

“The event came with its own challenges – open spaces, limited lighting, and unpredictable weather. Yet, the determination of the youth organisers ensured its success,” said MMPB Deputy President and event co-organiser Aeta Naqiah. “We are building a platform for real change among Brunei’s youth. The positive response we’ve seen tonight is a testament to the dreams of youth who aspire to make a meaningful impact on our nation,” she added.

The event’s highlights included Pound Fitness with over 70 participants, tabata, aerobics and Beyblade activities.

Visitors also enjoyed grassroots training by BeeChamp FC and a reptile exhibition.

A standout attraction was the first aid training using virtual reality (VR) technology by MAED and its partner, Rumine, giving visitors the chance to learn essential safety skills through realistic and interactive simulations.

Creative Entertainment also brought youth closer to local artists, while young painters from Creative Arts – some as young as 12 – showcased their artwork. Safety awareness exhibits by Pemoda, performances from the Tutong Skater Team, and Bone Setting demonstrations by local youth enriched the event’s offerings.

Participation from Radio Television Brunei’s Brunei Siuk programme added even more visibility, promoting the event and the vibrant spirit of youth involvement.
