A new association advocating for children’s health and well-being was launched during the Paediatric Symposium 2023 at the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday.
The Brunei Paediatric Society (BPS) aims to enhance paediatric medicine to international standards, said the society’s President Dr Hajah Rohayati binti Haji Mohd Taib.
“Global standards serve as the framework for our care, ensuring its exceptional quality and demonstrating our commitment to the young,” she said during her remarks.
The society will also advocate for paediatric education. “By prioritising learning and collaboration, we create a robust foundation for delivering top tier care. Through a culture of education, we prepare the pathway to a brighter future for both our patients and our profession,” said the BPS president. “Our third aim is to promote and support paediatric-centred research,” she said. “By joining forces in research endeavours, we can harness our collective efforts to improve the lives of numerous children and their families.”
The society will also seek to enhance collaboration among health professionals in childcare.
“Collaboration across friends leads to well-rounded care that considers a child’s diverse needs,” she said.
“With the aim of promoting a ‘Healthy Childhood’, the society also focuses on community involvement, bringing attention to the importance of early actions and the profound impact of a nurturing setting throughout life,” she added.
Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin officiated the launch of the BPS, carrying the motto ‘Committed to the Health and Wellbeing of All Children’.
