Some 541 trainees from the 11th intake of the National Service Programme (PKBN) completed a six-day training on basic disaster preparedness which began on January 23.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Safety and Welfare) at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Nor Hamidah binti Haji Hamidon was the guest of honour yesterday.
Held at PKBN’s Training Camp in Kampong Batu Apoi, Temburong District, the training was organised by MoHA, through the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) in collaboration with the National Service Division at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
It was divided into two sessions, with the first session by the NDMC, the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Technical Service Department, the Drainage and Sewerage Department and the Public Works Department.
The first session provided trainees with knowledge on disaster management as well as risk and impacts disasters on the country.
In the second session, the trainees participated in exercises where emergency situations were simulated.
