Some 39 individuals are participating in the Brunei Darussalam Civic Programme, organised by the Information Department.
The five-day training began yesterday with Acting Director of Information Department Siti Bismi Nuruliman binti Haji Awang Emzah saying in her remarks that the agency plans to work with other government agencies and non-governmental organisations to answer a recent call from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to ensure there is no separation between the nation and its youth.
The civic programme, she said, is aimed at equipping graduates and new officers with skills to face challenges in the digital era.
The programme was first introduced in 1976 to boost the Bruneian spirit, instil the Malay Islamic Monarchy national philosophy and build a strong mindset via enrichment through experience and knowledge.
Deputy Director of Information Department Sastra Sarini binti Haji Julaini was also present at the opening day. – James Kon
