A total of 35 newly registered Syariah lawyers received their certificates during a ceremony at the Supreme Court and Syariah Courts building yesterday.
The event, organised by the Syariah Court under the Judiciary Department of the Prime Minister’s Office, marked the admission of the lawyers for 2024.
Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar officiated the ceremony and presented certificates to the newly registered lawyers. The event also featured the launch of the Syariah Legal Consultation Corner and the Syariah Lawyers’ Mailbox.
The Syariah Legal Consultation Corner serves as a platform for the public to seek legal advice on Syariah court matters, facilitated by registered law firms.
The initiative aims to enhance access to justice by guiding individuals through legal procedures, improve service delivery at the Syariah Court through professional collaboration and promote public awareness of Syariah law firm services. Meanwhile, the Syariah Lawyers’ Mailbox, offered on a subscription basis, is designed to simplify correspondence between law firms and the Syariah Court.
These initiatives underline the Syariah Court’s commitment to improving public access to legal services while fostering closer collaboration with legal professionals in the delivery of justice.
Acting Chief Registrar of the Syariah Court of Appeal Pengiran Mohammaddin bin Pengiran Haji Aliakbar delivered the welcoming remarks followed by a keynote address from the Chief Syar’ie Judge. – Fadley Faisal
