The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), through its Library Division, in collaboration with the National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP), organised a basic sign language workshop at Balai Sarmayuda, DBP in Berakas.
The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between the hearing-impaired community and the public, while enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills in sign language.
It also introduced various communication methods with the hearing-impaired, fostering empathy and facilitating better interaction and understanding.
Some 24 participants, including library staff from all four districts under DBP and students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education and Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology attended the session.
The workshop was facilitated by OKP President Pengiran Haji Norahalim bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, alongside OKP executive committee members and bureau representatives. – Fadley Faisal
