22 teams vie for Dirgahayu Cup

Twenty-two teams, including 11 from Sabah and Sarawak, will compete in the Dirgahayu Cup Veteran Football Tournament from August 16-18.

This was shared by tournament chairman Matali bin Haji Md Tahir during the launch of tournament voting yesterday.

“The tournament serves as a platform for veteran players to continue staying active in football. It is also a way to appreciate the achievements and contributions of these veteran players in Brunei’s football,” he said.

The champion will win BND7,000, while first runner-up and second runner-up will receive BND2,000 and BND1,000 respectively.

It is organised by Kampong Sungai Kedayan Youth Union Football Club (KPPKSK) and Litmus Management Services Company.

KPPKSK is also hosting the Dirgahayu Cup Junior Championship for under 12 players, which will see 14 teams competing for the top spots.

The matches will be played at the Berakas Sports Complex as the main venue, including Menglait Sports Complex and Sungai Asam Sports Complex. – Azlan Othman
