The Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) provided BND133,013 of financial aid to families and religious institutions at a ceremony yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors handed over BND66,700 to imams and mosques officers of 64 mosques, suraus and religious halls.
The financial aid is for the institutions to organise events and activities in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul for 1445 Hijrah.
Twenty-one institutions were in the Brunei-Muara District, 23 in the Tutong District, eight in the Belait District and 12 in the Temburong District.
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, as member of Yayasan Board of Directors and Chairman of the Yayasan Aid Review Committee presented BND24,963 of financial aid to Munah binti Suboh, an individual who is living in less fortunate circumstances and in need of assistance.
Ten families involved in fire and house collapse disasters from Brunei-Muara and Tutong districts also received a total of BND41,350 in immediate financial aid to help with daily necessities. – Rokiah Mahmud
