Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) yesterday handed over BND97,800 in financial assistance to individuals who had their homes destroyed or are in need of repair.
Some BND26,800 was presented to six victims of house fires and two victims whose homes had collapsed.
Meanwhile, BND71,000 was handed over to five underprivileged families in need of assistance to repair their homes.
The handover ceremony yesterday at Yayasan headquarters saw Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, as member of Yayasan Board of Directors and Chairman of the Yayasan Aid Review Committee, hand over the financial aid to recipients.
It was hoped that the financial assistance could help to ease the burden of disaster victims, as well as improve the quality of life and well-being of the underprivileged. – James Kon
