WKBD to compete in Milo International Open

The Wakodai Karate Brunei Darussalam (WKBD) has sent 15 athletes to represent the country in the 23rd MILO International Open Karate Championship 2024 which will be held from June 28 to 30 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The team, who will be accompanied by four coaches, will also be joined by other local karate clubs and will take part in the kumite event across various levels. The club intends to gain experience from competing at the international level from their participation and enhance the performance of the Brunei athletes, specifically WKBD athletes.

The athletes have received training from the national coaches as part of their preparations, with the team setting their targets to attain numerous medals and lifting the image of the country. A flag handover ceremony was held yesterday which saw the WKBD President Haji Malai Jeffry bin Haji Othman hand over the flag to Md Faris Fakhrullah bin Ishak in his capacity as the leader of the athletes.

The WKBD team expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the support of the Youth and Sports Department and Brunei Darussalam Karate Federation, as well as their sponsors. – Fadhil Yunus
