Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Kampong Rimba clinched first place in the Women’s Category of the group competition for youth and adults nationwide while Kampong Telisai Mosque emerged as the champion in the men’s category.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim presented prizes to the winners.
The competition was held to find new talent among young Al-Quran readers and enhance the youth’s knowledge and understanding on the presentation of group Al-Quran reading that is less known.
The competition was also held in response to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam ‘s titah calling to make Brunei a Zikir nation and to turn make mosques into not places of worship but where congregants can acquire knowledge.
