The importance of digital evidence gathering for competition authorities in the fight against anti-competitive conduct has become increasingly apparent as the way businesses generate, store and distribute information has changed in today’s world of advancing technology.

To gain an insight into the procedures to extract digital evidences from digital devices, Executive Secretariat of Competition Commission Brunei Darussalam (CCBD) Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) paid a visit to Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) at Jalan E-Kerajaan last week.

A CSB lab quality manager delivered a briefing on CSB and the services provided by its National Digital Forensics Laboratory. The visit commenced with presentations on the Competition Order, 2015 as well as the functions and powers of CCBD.

As an enforcement body, the CCBD is provided with exhaustive powers to investigate anti-competitive cases, including the power to acquire information, access computerised data and enter premises with and without a warrant.
