The viral message on housing applications for RPN Kampong Lugu is not true, said the Housing Development Department at the Ministry of Development over the weekend.
The department issued the statement following a viral message listing applicants of the National Housing Scheme (RPN) under the heading KSPN (1).
The department clarified that the list was uploaded on its website to update national housing scheme data on April 2017, and advised members of the public not to believe, speculate and forward messages without first validating its authenticity.
Those spreading false reports or statements, whether verbally or in writing, likely to raise public concern is committing an offence and if convicted, can be fined up to BND3,000 and three years in prison, warned the agency.
