Villagers band together for Day of Action

Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL) and Kampong Lambak ‘B’ Village Consultative Council (MPK Lambak ‘B’) organised a Day of Action (DOA) programme in conjunction with the International Volunteer Day 2023 at Lambak Berakas Mosque on Sunday.

PERBEKAL President Pengiran Haji Nordin bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud said the programme included the washing of women’s prayer attire (telekung), an initiative implemented by the association at several mosques for the past eight years.

Forty pairs of telekung were washed along with 20 new pairs donated by the public.

Thirty cartons of mineral water, cleaning utensils, contributed by the MPK Lambak ‘B’, were also handed over. A mini exhibition of PERBEKAL activities, Selawat, Tausyeh performances and a Doa Selamat recitation for Palestine and Brunei Darussalam were also held.

Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abd Karim was the guest of honour.

Village Head of Kampong Lambak ‘B’ and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Berakas Pengiran Jofri bin Pengiran Haji Zaidi as the co-chairperson of the programme, and PERBEKAL Vice President Siti Seriana binti Haji Md Yusof were also present.

Meanwhile, the Youth and Sports Department also held a Day of Action programme recently where one activity was a workshop for emcees by a former radio and television presenter Helen Thu at the Youth Centre in the capital. – Lyna Mohamad & James Kon
