HANOI (XINHUA) – Vietnamese consumers spend an average of VND25.3 trillion (USD1 billion) each month on online shopping on five e-commerce platforms, VnExpress reported citing market analysis firm Metric yesterday.
According to Metric, Vietnamese consumers spent VND227.7 trillion (USD8.9 billion) on buying items on Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada, Tiki and Sendo in the first nine months of this year, a rise of 37.66 per cent over the same period last year.
In the third quarter alone, over VND84.7 trillion (USD3.3 billion) was spent by the Vietnamese on those e-commerce platforms, up 18.15 per cent over the previous quarter.
The figures demonstrate the robust e-commerce market of Vietnam, said Metric.
Metric said the Vietnamese e-commerce market sees live streaming and cheap goods on the rise. Metric forecasts that total sales on the five largest platforms will be more than VND80.6 trillion (USD3.2 billion) with 870 million products sold in the fourth quarter.
