Vendors of the popular food stalls in Sumbangsih Mulia expressed gratitude for being able to conduct their businesses at a proper place with free rental and nominal fees for electricity and water bills totalling some BND50 monthly.
The popular food stall is a gift to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the monarch’s 60th birthday by Sumbangsih Mulia Chairman Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin.
Vendors selling noodles, soto and rojak told the Bulletin they are grateful that the monarch and the government allocated the area as previously, food vendors around the Beribi light industrial area set up their stalls along the road side, creating danger to pedestrians and motorists.
Vendors are also thankful that the chairman supplied them with free chairs and tables, and that they are not required to pay for maintenance or surfacing the road.
Sumbangsih Mulia with the cooperation of Counselling and Supervision Services of the Prisons Department also allocated a site for car wash services to provide job opportunities to the Prisons Department’s Friends Under Supervision Programme. – Azlan Othman
