Preserving the religion will make the nation prosper and produce the best livelihood, said Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan’s (KUPU SB) Dean of Student Affairs Dr Haji Mohammad Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk during a religious lecture to mark Ilal Hijrah 1445 celebration at Sungai Besar Mosque yesterday.
He said His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in several titahs, underlined the need to uphold the religion to ensure the nation’s prosperity.
Dr Haji Mohammad Shahrol Azmi said Ilal Hijrah is traditionally celebrated on a grand scale and is a platform for believers to better their lives. He said it is a reminder of Prophet Muhammad’s (pbub)migration.
The dean said the celebration encourages Muslims to be patient, work hard and supplicate while facing challenges.
Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Department Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri was the guest of honour at the celebration. – Azlan Othman
