University wins prestigious award for the fifth time

The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance (FEKIm) at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently won the GIFA Market Leadership Award for Education in Islamic Banking and Finance for the fifth time. The award underscores UNISSA’s excellence in offering international academic programmes, particularly in Islamic finance. This year’s 14th GIFA was held at Villa Nautica, Maldives and attended by the Minister of Finance of Maldives Dr Mohammed Shafeeq.

FEKIm’s achievement record now includes wins in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024, highlighting the faculty’s achievements and the university’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality education that meets industry needs and global academic standards. UNISSA’s Acting Deputy Rector (Policy and Corporate) Dr Haji Arman bin Haji Asmad and FEKIm Dean Dr Muhammad Zaki bin Haji Zaini, represented UNISSA at the awards ceremony.

The GIFA Award is a prestigious regional and international recognition, celebrating Islamic financial institutions and higher education institutions offering outstanding and innovative programmes in Islamic economics and finance. – Azlan Othman
