University hosts competency enhancement workshop for Maldivian delegation

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Maldives, hosted the ‘Competency Enhancement Workshop for Maldivian Imams and Da’ie 2024’ at the UNISSA campus from July 17 to 22.

UNISSA Rector Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal as the guest of honour officiated the workshop, comprising 20 participants including senior officials, imams, and da’ie from the Maldives.

The six-day workshop aimed to deepen the participants’ understanding of Islamic knowledge, enhance their skills and strengthen their competencies and personal integrity.

The participants also visited several sites in the country including Jame ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Ash-Shaliheen Mosque, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei History Centre, Royal Regalia Museum, Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge and the Temburong District, providing insights into the culture and history of the Sultanate.

The delegation also visited Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah by observing the learning environment and activities of the students. Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan presented certificates to the guests at a ceremony at a hotel in Gadong on Sunday.

Acting deputy rector, acting assistant rector, and academic staff from the Faculty of Usuluddin, UNISSA also attended. – Fadley Faisal
