University attends Borneo consortium convention

A delegation from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently attended the University of Borneo Consortium (KUUB) Convention and the exchange of declaration of understanding (DoU) on the establishment of KUUB with 16 KUUB member universities at Fugo Hotel, Banjarmasin in Indonesia.

KUUB is a coalition of 16 selected universities in the Borneo region.

The opening ceremony of the KUUB Convention and the Exchange of DoUs for the establishment of KUUB was officiated by representative of the Governor of South Kalimantan Hajah Husnuh Hatimah.

The initiative to establish KUUB is to enhance commitment and strategic partnership between public and government-owned universities in Borneo to support excellence, capability and internationalisation in teaching and learning, research and innovation as well as student mobility and graduate employability.

Campus Director of Universiti Putra Malaysia in Bintulu Sarawak, who is also the founder and chairman of KUUB Professor Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini and Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, who is also deputy chairperson of KUUB, were also present.

UNISSA Assistant Rector (Research, International and Services) Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad and Director of the International and Public Relations Centre at UNISSA Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili represented the university. – Azlan Othman
