Unity in strength

The 40th National Day celebration saw over 20,000 participants joining field performances, parade, choir and other activities with the private sector, educational institutions, non-governmental associations and organisations invited to participate in the parade.

Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd was participated by 41 employees led by its Chief Operating Officer Fazilah Yassin.

“It was exciting surrounded by patriotic people and to be part of the event. It feels like we are all united regardless of nationalities, religion and culture,” said Hajah Nordimasayu binti Haji Nordin.

Meanwhile, the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) was among the non-governmental associations invited to participate in the national parade.

Led by their president Haji Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman, some 40 members participated.

PGGMB administrative member Haji Yahya bin Haji Mirasan said that PGGMB participates at annual events to glorify the National Day celebration including a flag hoisting ceremony, held every year at PGGMB’s schools, and quiz and drawing competitions.

He added that the activities aim to instil patriotism among the students.

Also participating were lecturers and students from Kolej International Graduate Studies, led by its Head of Student Affairs/Registrar Haji Nur Hasnul bin Haji Hamdani.

He said the celebration is a “testament to the unity, resilience and progress that define our beloved nation”. He added, “Let us celebrate our rich cultural heritage, the visionary leadership of the monarch, and the achievements that shape our prosperous and harmonious country.” – Lyna Mohamad
