Unity and gratitude key to national progress

Bruneians are reminded to uphold unity, gratitude, and strong moral values as key pillars in ensuring the nation’s continued peace, development, and prosperity, according to today’s Friday sermon.

The sermon highlighted that Brunei Darussalam has always been guided by its national philosophy, Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), which shapes governance, societal progress, and individual responsibilities. This philosophy is deeply rooted in the nation’s vision, Brunei Vision 2035, which aspires for a well-educated and highly skilled population, a dynamic and sustainable economy, and a high standard of living.

The sermon underscored the importance of national unity, emphasising that Bruneians have long embraced the spirit of togetherness, which has been instrumental in shaping the nation’s stability and progress. Through collective commitment and perseverance, the values and traditions inherited from past generations continue to safeguard the country’s well-being.

The sermon further stressed that unity between the government, leaders, and citizens is crucial in navigating challenges and sustaining national progress. It called on the people to uphold their responsibilities by actively contributing to the nation’s development while continuously improving knowledge, adopting new technologies, and adhering to Islamic teachings in governance and daily life.

As Brunei celebrates its 41st National Day, the sermon urged the public to express their gratitude for the nation’s peace and independence by participating in a special thanksgiving prayer and recitation of Surah Yasin at mosques, suraus, and prayer halls nationwide this Saturday evening, February 22, 2025, after Maghrib prayers. – Hakim Hayat
