A proposal to provide opportunities for Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) Usuluddin Faculty students to undertake industrial training in appropriate organisations through the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), Sabah were among the matters discussed during the visit by a delegation of Usuluddin Faculty, UNISSA to JAKIM recently.
The proposal was part of the objectives of the working visit by the UNISSA delegation to the JAKIM in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, which is to explore areas of potential collaboration.
The courtesy visit made through the Jelajah Silaturrahim Da’ie Borneo programme took place at JAKIM Sabah branch where the delegation led by Dean of Usuluddin Faculty Dr Hajah Sri Rahayu @ Nurjanah binti Haji Dollah was welcomed by JAKIM Director Datuk Haji Norjeli bin Haji Dais.
Al-Azhar International Alumni Association of Malaysia (WOAGM) members were led by its president Professor Dato’ Dr Fakhruddin bin Abdul Mukti, who is also a Professor at the Usuluddin Faculty of UNISSA.
The visit was in line with the geographical position between the two countries which have many similarities and is believed to further facilitate the movement and management of the programme.
UNISSA’s Tahfiz and Qiraat Bachelor’s Degree programme, that can be offered to students who graduated from the Tahfiz and Qiraat Diploma under JAKIM, the opportunity to continue their studies to a higher level at UNISSA, was also promoted during the visit.
The JAKIM director expressed willingness to work with UNISSA and saw many areas of collaboration that could be implemented, especially in the efforts of the dakwah movement.
In addition, he also gave a brief introduction on the development of JAKIM’s Sabah branch which offers the Islamic Tourism Diploma programme.
