UNISSA delegate shines at international conference

Dr Azme bin Haji Matali from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) clinched third place in the best paper category in the International Conference on Syariah and Law (ICONSYAL) 2023 at Bangi Resort Hotel, Selangor, Malaysia.

Nearly 30 participants from UNISSA comprising academic staff of the Faculty of Syariah and Law as well as postgraduate students and PhD students participated in the conference.

Some 137 participants presented papers during the conference including scholars, experts, academics and representatives of government and non-government agencies directly involved in fields such as Syariah and Islamic Law.

Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Religious Affairs) Senator Dato’ Setia Dr Haji Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar officiated the conference.

The conference was organised by the Selangor Islamic University (UIS) in collaboration with UNISSA; Raden Mas Said Islamic University; Policy and Economic Affairs Centre of Malaysia Foundation, Permodalan Waqf Malaysia, Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation and KUISCELL, UIS.

The international conference highlights the theme ‘Towards Sustainable Solutions in Addressing the Rising Global Cost of Living’.

The conference aims to intensify efforts in strengthening the culture of knowledge, especially among academic and industry officials to produce research, writing and scientific publications while also creating a space for scientific discourse.

The UNISSA delegation was led by Dean of the Faculty of Syariah and Law Professor Dato Dr Zulkifly bin Muda. – Azlan Othman
