Two foreigners fined for immigration, labour violations

A joint operation conducted by the Immigration and National Registration Department and the Labour Department, named Operation Kabat JIPK 93/2024 on August 20, resulted in the prosecution of two Bangladeshis for violating immigration and labour laws.

The operation targeted several rental houses in Mukim Pengkalan Batu and a company in Mukim Gadong ‘B’.

Prosecutor Nurul Husna Aqilah binti Haji Abidin’s charges state that Md Abdul Malek, 23, and Md Mafizul Islam, 46, violated Regulation 15(3), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Regulations for working in positions not specified in their passports.

They were also charged under Chapter 6(1) of the Employment Agency Order 2004 for operating an employment agency without a licence from the Commissioner of Labour.

The duo pleaded guilty and were each handed a fine of BND1,000 for each offence, or a one-month prison sentence in default of payment of the fines, by Magistrate Abdul ‘Azim bin Othman. – Fadley Faisal
