The Ministry of Religious Affairs supports businesses offering haj and umrah packages as they help both the economy and encourage people to perform religious duties.
This was shared by Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman at the 19th Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday.
The minister added that travel agencies must meet all the requirements such as the approval to offer haj and umrah packages through obtaining a licence issued by the Haj Affairs Department.
He said the requirements ensure the reliability of the service and safety of those who wish to perform haj and umrah.
The matter was raised by LegCo member Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Momin on how companies are able to offer haj and umrah packages.
