Brunei has some of the most beautiful hiking trails, and it is such a shame that these sites are largely unknown to the public, including fitness enthusiasts.
A lot of these parks were designed and built during the pandemic, by communities that were passionate about supporting the authorities in promoting a healthy lifestyle and showcasing nature in their own backyards.
More importantly, there are regular maintenance works to keep the fruits of their labour from fall on the wayside.
I have visited several of them and the careful planning that went into making these trails unforgettable is obvious, taking my breath away with their beautiful waterfalls and cascades. I wish more people knew about these parks.
The authorities ought to consider promoting these hiking trails both domestically and abroad. Perhaps establish a public-private partnership to further enhance these parks to make them even more attractive to tourists.
