Two foreign male and a female were brought to the Law Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) after the trio were found to have violated the immigration rules and regulation during a routine inspection conducted by law enforcers from the department on December 24, 2022.
The ‘Operasi Tumpas JIPK 91/2022’ targetted a farm hut in Mukim Lumapas, where one of the male was being investigated under Regulation 9(4) for violating the social visit regulation, while the other two were found to be workers, who have been reported to have run away from their employers.
The two foreign workers also admitted that they had left their employers with the intention of finding new employment elsewhere.
The department reminded employers that hiring immigration offenders is a violation that leads to a BND3,000 fine for each immigration offender.
For foreigners who have been dealt legally, their immigration passes will be cancelled before deportation and their names blacklisted in the Sultanate.
The department will continuously carry out enforcement activities in the country through operations and inspections individually or join forces with other law enforcement agencies to enforce the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Order 2019 and Prevention of People Smuggling Order 2019 as well as other activities that are against the law and regulations of the country.
Those with information on immigration offences can contact the department’s hotline at 8734888 or 8753888.
